For almost five decades, under the direction of its founder, Alexis FitzGerald OAM, the Esk Community Choir, one of the country’s longest living choirs, has been sharing its passion for music, living its mantra ‘Service in Song’ locally, interstate and internationally. In recognition of their lasting legacy this will be a showcase of songs, stories and shared memories of a choir whose voices have continued to resonate across generations. Bookings can be made by phoning the Splityard : 0493 046 421
The Esk Community Choir is honoured to have been invited to lead the congregation in song at St David’s United Welsh Church at 2.00pm on 19th July, helping to mark this tiny heritage listed church’s 140 years of faithful ministry to a Welsh community.
This special occasion honours the rich heritage of St David’s whose story has been woven through generations of worship, culture, language and community life in Blackstone. With music that echoes both Welsh tradition and a shared Christian faith, the choir is honoured to participate in this wonderful milestone.
On 15th August, the Esk Community Choir will proudly share the stage with Toowoomba’s multicultural choir, Women in Harmony in a celebration of song, to be held at Philo Hall, Matthews Street, Toowoomba commencing at 2.00pm. Having collaborated with this choir over many years, the Esk Choir has been invited to open the performances with a special bracket of songs before an afternoon of choral magic with Women in Harmony, culminating in a spectacular finale of massed voices – a wonderful choral extravaganza celebrating friendship, harmony and the power of music.
19th Aug - Performance Challenge
Launceston, Tasmania

On 19 August, carloads of choristers and companions from the Esk Community Choir will head to Brisbane Airport to begin a five-day musical odyssey in Launceston, Tasmania. For four of those days, the group will immerse themselves in the St Cecilia School of Music’s Performance Challenge, where they will pit their talents against some of the country’s most gifted young musicians.
After weeks of inspiring tuition, encouragement, and dedicated preparation under Alexis’s guidance, choir members will take to the stage in solos, duets, ensembles, and full choir performances. The “Eskimos” hope to cast aside any veil of performance fear and replace it with confidence, pride, and a deep sense of achievement in all they have accomplished.
